There are two big issues with this translation, depending on where you're sitting. I don't know if that's maybe my translation, (I'm reading a different translator--Pevear & Volokhonsky) or just a case of the book being longer and more ambitious. Using several examples from Tolstoy's War and Peace, the author gives the reader a whole new look and appreciation into the world of a translator. Of course, for Russian lit I go straight for Pevear & Volokhonsky! It is also hard to avoid hyperbole in its praise.
